I am a Registered Social Worker and Clinical Director at the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC) and also a graduate student at the University of Waterloo in Canada's first health-focused Master of Social Work (MSW) program. While working at AARC, and engaged in graduate studies, I am also completing my MSW practicum in a private counselling setting. My work builds off my own personal story involving mental health, addiction, and recovery.
Since 2015 I have been working at AARC with youth and families struggling with substance use disorders and concurrent disorders in a semi-residential treatment setting. I am also experienced in providing addictions and mental health counselling and critical interventions to youth and adults in hospital, primary care network, and private counselling settings, with consideration as to how cultural, biopsychosocial-spiritual, and social determinants of health factors shape individual health experiences.
I use a combination of mindfulness-based, existential, psychodynamic, trauma-informed, person-centred, and 12 Step interventions, and I am experienced in public speaking and community education regarding substance abuse and dependency and its negative impact on youth and their family members.
