My name is Rachael and I’m. Person in long term recovery from Drug and Alcohol. My recovery date it July 30 2017. I grew up in a very dysfunctional family and found my self getting into a lot of trouble when I moved from Queens Ny to SLC Utah. I wanted to fit in and I found a group of misfits who were just like me. I was in and out of rehab. All of my High School years. I moved to LA in 1997 and I continue on with my drinking career. To make a long story short I found harder drugs in 1999 and my addiction to substances began. I became homeless multiple times. I deserted my marriage deserted my children for the streets and was in and out of jail many times. I had multiple attempts at recovery which I ultimately failed because I never worked a program, was never willing to leave the friends and continued hanging out with the same people places and things. July 2017 I finally had enough and I took my life back and by Gods amazing grace I have been living an amazing life and so many blessing have come forth be of the work I have done to get better. Today I am a leader in my community, a mother, I am employed, saving to buy a house, I am trusted, people depend on me, I have found myself in a spiritual journey helping others heal from the dark place I once was in. I have real life attainable goals and am living the life I use to pray to have. I could t be more grateful for the life I live today. One free from all mind altering substances. For me this is what works but I support all pathways to recovery.
